The North Georgia College & State University women’s soccer team is continuing its success on the pitch by maintaining a perfect record at 6-0.
Along with the winning streak, the Lady Saints are moving up in the national rankings. The team jumped ine spots to No. 11 in NCAA Division II Women’s Soccer in the most recent National Soccer Coaches of America Association (NSCAA) Top-25 poll.
After six games this season the Lady Saints have outscored their opponents 23-3.
Goalkeeper Mallory Sayre was named Peach Belt Conference Goalkeeper of the Week on Monday, Sept. 10.
So far this season Sayre has only allowed three goals and in its 1-0 victory over then No. 16 Rollins College had 11 saves.
Sayer currently leads the PBC in saves with 29 and is second in the league in goals-against average with 0.21.
On Wednesday, Sept. 12, the Lady Saint’s traveled to Carson-Newman. The team led at the half 6-1 and never looked back with a final score of 8-2.
The Lady Saints took 38 shots in the game compared to Carson-Newman’s 9 shots.
Forward Kelly Martin scored two goals in the game to give her a season total of three goals
On Friday, Sept. 7, the Lady Saints traveled to Pensacola, Fl. to compete in the West Florida Tournament.
In the tournament, the team took on Florida Southern and No. 16 Rollins College. The Lady Saints came out victorious in both matches, winning by 1-0 against Florida Southern on Friday, Sept. 7 and 1-0 against No. 16 Rollins on Sunday, Sept. 9.
The Lady Saints will be trying to translate their current success to their upcoming Peach Belt Conference schedule. The team will start its Peach Belt run on Saturday, Sept. 15 at home against Young Harris.
