The Weekly Whine: Scarecrows in September?!

Drop us a line for the weekly whine!!(Photo special to The Saint.)

Dahlonega is a town that is known for its festiveness. Any holiday or even any suspected holiday there will be decorations. Lots of them.

However, this year for Halloween – or  one can only suspect it is for Halloween since it has been up since late August – they have gone a little overboard.

Everybody knows what I am talking about -the scarecrows.  You cannot miss then, even if you try. They are everywhere and anywhere a native Dahlonegan could think to squeeze one in. The whole town definitely got the memo.

The best ones are around the square and are all strategically placed so they look like real people trying to cross the road. I have actually seen people stop because they are thinking the same thing and I would laugh, but I have almost done the same thing myself. Another great one I have seen has a mannequin head, but a scarecrow body…that won’t scare any children.

As if  the scarecrows were not enough there have also been signs promising their arrival which are now replaced with signs saying they are here…. as if we could not tell.

Do not get me wrong I think holiday spirit is a great thing, and am all about decorations, but sometimes you just chill out. However, as the city slickers begin flocking to the mountains to enjoy all the fall colors, I have a feeling they will enjoy the all the ‘’charming” scarecrows.

Have something (or someone) that is bugging you?! Is sarcasm your second language? Do you just need a moment to vent?  Well The Saint wants to hear about it! Drop us a line for the weekly whine!!
