Outdoor Pursuits Offers Adventure Trips

It may have been the active Greek life, the superior academic notoriety, our men in uniform or the constant full-body workout you get from walking up to HNS every other day that steered you in the North Georgia direction.

Chances are there were a number of factors (with the 7 a.m. wake-up call, by means of the cannon, topping the list), but the one apparent element that stood out as you drove up 400 to Gold Country was the serene landscape of the Appalachian Mountains.

You probably told yourself you would undergo long hikes, take day trips to Amicalola Falls, and camp on the banks of Cane Creek…and it probably never happened. Recently, the Recreational Sports Department launched “Outdoor Pursuits Adventure Trips.”

This semester’s trips include treks to the top of Mt. Yonah, dangling from the ropes course at Pine Valley, and an overnight “Fright Hike” on the Benton MacKaye Trail.

And the best part about it? Most trips are completely free to students. Check out the detailed schedule  here.
